How do the numbered clues work?
Within one puzzle, the same number always represents the same letter. Use the letters already given and familiar word patterns to work out the rest. Select an empty space and enter a letter; on Mac, you can use your keyboard. Each space is filled individually.
What is free, and what does Premium include?
On Mac, the introductory puzzles and Daily Story are free. Premium unlocks the full themed Story library and increases hint and heart capacity. Monthly subscription and Lifetime purchase options are shown where offered. Mobile editions may have different access and optional rewarded-help features; check the Premium page on your device for its exact benefits and price.
Restore purchases
Open Settings, choose Premium, then select Restore purchases. Use the same App Store or Google Play account that made the purchase. If access is still missing, keep the app installed and email us with your device, version, and the option you purchased.
Manage a subscription or request a refund
Manage Monthly renewal through your store account. Removing the app does not cancel a subscription. For Apple purchases, follow Apple's cancellation instructions or request a refund from Apple. Google Play purchases are managed through your Google Play account. Refund eligibility is determined by the store.
Offline play and missing Daily content
Bundled and already downloaded puzzles can be played offline. New Daily content, purchases, restores, and friend-help requests need a connection. If a Daily Story will not load, reconnect and try again, then send us the date and any error message if the problem remains.
Where is my progress saved?
Progress and settings are saved on your device, with no cloud-progress sync. Restoring a purchase restores eligible Premium access, not puzzle progress. Please contact us before deleting or reinstalling the app, because local progress can be lost.
Hints, friend help, and reminders
Hints can help with an individual letter. When friend help is offered, share the link yourself; Code Word does not read your contacts. Internet access is required to create a link and collect help. Mobile editions may also offer optional rewarded ads; the Mac edition does not use advertising.
You can adjust Daily reminders in the app's settings and notification permissions in your operating system settings.
